For the last five years or so, the main theme in my stories was characters starting their lives over at midlife. New home. New job. New love (maybe). New something – or, more often, new everything.
I think I'm done with that. I beat that horse pretty good and dead before I managed to follow my own advice and start my own life over.
Now my new theme is: now what?
It isn't highly original, but it's what I've got .
I've struggled over writing "what I know" when it turns out that what I'm writing is "what I need to learn right now."
